Saturday Night Live: The Best of Saturday TV Funhouse
Sometimes controversial but always hilarious, Robert Smigel's TV Funhouse cartoons have contained some of SNL’s most memorable material in recent years. Hosted by Ace and Gary, "The Ambiguously Gay Duo" (voiced by Steve Carell and Stephen Colbert), this critically-acclaimed collection features favourites like "X-Presidents," "Saddam and Osama," "Smurfette," "The Narrator that Ruined Christmas," "Fun With Real Audio" and more. With appearances by the full cast of SNL.

SNL's TV Funhouse Provides Lots of Politically Incorrect Laughs - TheShamus
"The Best of Saturday Night Live" has mostly focussed on sketches from individual comics (Chris Farley, Adam Sandler, etc). Recently, SNL released a Commercial Parody DVD which I thought was an excellent value (and very funny) ... with over 40 commercial parodies.
This time around, we have a compilation of "TV Funhouse". Our hosts for the DVD are "The Ambiguously Gay Duo". For those unfamiliar with TV Funhouse ... these animation sketches are parodies of real or cartoon figures. The comedy style ranges from "edgy" to "crass". Some sketches make a social commentary, while others aim for low brow laughs. Regardless ... it is completely a "mixed bag" -- and aside from the "Ambiguously Gay Duo", there are not many reoccurring bits.
This animation is not for kids -- and adults should watch it before deciding what is suitable. Some of the scenes could be considered offensive -- such as relegious themes. In defence of the show, most religions are equally mistreated.
I found the skits to be short -- if one fizzled, it was quickly onto the next one. Again -- SNL should stop trying to write in new comedy between the sketches -- like the Ambigously Gay Duo" sketches written for the DVD. The jokes are not funny. I would personally like to see the animators or writers intoducing the sketches to give some perspective on the idea or motivation behind the skits.
There are many references and sounds effects used in the show which will ring a bell with the 35 to 45 age group -- if you are younger, you may not "get" all of the comedy bits.
This is the kind of thing you can show all of your friends with a similar sense of humour. It is worth watching a few times.

q out of every 3-4 clip is funny, but the rest are just boring. The transition scenes are cheesy, and the picture quality of the cartoons is very poor. The quality is comparable to that of over-used VHS tapes.
I liked the Ambiguously Gay Duo cartoons (some are in the "extra" menu for some reason?) and a few of the "fun with real audio" clips.
Some of the other clips really drag on (like the segment with the McCain speech... or the Genie cartoon). We ended up skipping a lot of the clips because they stopped being funny after the first 30 seconds.
