Reeker
Evil is in the air.
En route to a desert rave, a group of students are forced to hole up in a deserted travel spot after discovering their planned route is inexplicably closed. Upon discovering that their shelter is something of a conduit between the living and the dead, their welfare ends up in the care of a blind grad student with heightened senses.

I really enjoyed this movie. I expected it to be kind of crappy and obvious, but it surprised me- it was SOOO refreshing to see no big names and it (Michael Ironside being the exception) had some mystery to it (there's a difference between unclear and mysterious, where things do make sense at the end and confusing, where things are simply poorly-done; Reeker is not confusing). It doesn't spoon-feed the viewer with anything, which is a nice change from most Hollywood films, and although it has a bit of the boring old teen slasher flick aspect to it, it isn't done for its own sake, it has a story tie-in, which is also a nice switch. My only qualm would be the 'power tool' use that seems unnecessary and boringly typical teen slasher. Granted the overall story and 'twist' at the end aren't really all that original, and aspects could have been done better to improve the originality, but overall Reeker is an enjoyable movie- certainly when compared to some of the real crap out there...A sleeper Hit! I wasn't expecting much out of this one. I was bored and confused through most of it. The death scenes are ok but they come slowly and you are wondering through the whole thing what is killing people. Then they totally turn it around on you at the end with a twist ending that somewhat blows your mind a little. If you are willing to sit through the whole thing I think you will be surprised at this one. It could have been so much more if it got a bigger budget, better actors and better writing.Better Than Expected - CitizenOfTheWorld
I expected this movie to be a next slasher/teen-scream/evil-creature and was under this expectation until the last third part when suddenly it was all coming, and the movie appeared much deeper than I had thought. Very-very well... everything gets explained in the last part, and then you realize all the discrepancies and ridiculousness you saw or guessed in any slasher are put in their proper places and you know it is everything the game of Death with life. Exactly like that: Death with a capital D and life as is. Kinda similar to Identity but on the other note...
I enjoyed it.
