The film is made in black and white, literally - no grey tones at all. It may seem like a interesting idea, but I found it tiring to watch very quickly. The storyline was OK; not bad, but nothing extraordinary.
It seemed to me that they shot the real people (the movement was usually very realistic), but then they converted it digitally into this black and white thing.
There were actually a couple of frames that looked more like hand-made graphics, pen and ink, and I quite liked it, but those were only near the beginning.
The black and white convention just grew more and more tedious as the film went on. I watched it all because I wanted to see where the plot will go, but it required quite a bit of effort...A major disappointment - mxg123
Black and white, no gray: this movie was very boring, as it looked like an animated story board, and the script was not that great. The characters kept saying 2006, over and over, as if that was important in circa 2050s. It’s just like if we were all worrying all the time about 1966 in 2010. Was 1966 so important? So why would 2006 be so important, expect that it was the year that the movie was released/done. I also hate the fact that some time the picture was totally black expect for half the face of the characters which was white, and then other time the picture was all white, with only the face outline of the characters was black. Again it just looks like a story board, and they just did not have the budget to hire real people to play all these characters. The only thing that was good in this movie was the sound, and that is the reason why I give it two stars as oppose to only one.Nice To Look At Part 2 - Picker_of_Movies
I agree with everything rnhaas wrote.
This is a very neat looking movie but the story fails for me. A standard cop going after standard corporate bad guy.
I really liked the look of the film. It would have been nice to see a storyline that was just as innovative. Or a good story told in a more imaginative way that suited the animation style.
The acting is nothing notable. Considering the animation style visuals it would have been nice to hear some distinctive sounding voices. (Sorry, Mr Craig.)
I'm not trying to give the impression the acting or story are bad. They are not. Just not as good as the animation style filming technique. Give the movie a watch and you likely won't be disappointed but you likely won't recommend it to friends, either.
