Flushed Away
Someone's Going Down
Roddy (Hugh Jackman) is a decidedly upper-crust "society rat" who makes his home in a posh Kensington flat, complete with two hamster butlers named Gilbert (Geoffrey Palmer) and Sullivan (Simon Callow). When a common sewer rat named Syd (Shane Richie) comes spewing out of the sink and decides he's hit the jackpot, Roddy schemes to rid himself of the pest by luring him into the "whirlpool." Syd may be an ignorant slob, but he's no fool, so it is Roddy who winds up being flushed away into the bustling sewer world of Ratropolis. There Roddy meets Rita (Kate Winslet), an enterprising scavenger who works the sewers in her faithful boat, the Jammy Dodger. Roddy immediately wants out, or rather, up; Rita wants to be paid for her trouble; and, speaking of trouble, the villainous Toad (Ian McKellen)—who royally despises all rodents—wants them iced—literally. The Toad dispatches his two hapless hench-rats, Spike (Andy Serkis) and Whitey (Bill Nighy), to get the job done. When they fail, the Toad has no choice but to send away to France for his cousin—that dreaded mercenary, Le Frog (Jean Reno).

This film is witty, smart and funny. I really think that more films should be like this one. I think that it didn't fair well with audiences because it brought Aardman studios to the forefront while Aardman has always been and should always we a semi-independent studio.
The gist of it is that this is an enjoyable movie that is visually smart and fun to watch. Enjoy it and zip it soon!flushed away - tbird
a good movie for little kids but i wouldn't recommend it for adults. a bit disneyish. there is nothing wrong with disney movies, but i was hoping for an ugly looking rat with bulgy eyes and crooked teeth. that would give him character. instead he looked a bit like prince charles. anyways i thought the storyline was amazing. a rat being flashed down a toilet and going on an adventure sounded damned good.Add to your Must See List - RocksandChairs
Quite often I find a lot of animated movies have great voice actors and amazing graphics but miss the mark in either writing or comedic timing. Now I know they are meant for children but lets face it, we adults must endure as well. This movie is quite obviously made for both children and adults.
I found the voice acting to be perfect, the jokes delivered on the right timing, and the jokes were actually funny. I thought it was very creative in the mouse world with what they use to build their little city. All in all it was a very well done kids movie and I enjoy watching it once every couple of months.
So whether they you have kids or not I think you'll enjoy this movie.
