The Fountain
What if you could live forever?
The Fountain is an odyssey about one man's thousand-year struggle to save the woman he loves. His epic journey begins in 16th century Spain, where conquistador Tomas Creo (Hugh Jackman) commences his search for the Tree of Life, the legendary entity believed to grant eternal life to those who drink of its sap. As modern-day scientist Tommy Creo, he desperately struggles to find a cure for the cancer that is killing his beloved wife Isabel (Rachel Weisz). Traveling through deep space as a 26th-century astronaut, Tom begins to grasp the mysteries of life that have consumed him for more than a century.

For what it's worth - i thought Hugh Jackman was great - perhaps the only tangible revelation of the film.
But seriously folks - after just one viewing - i'm just .. wow - huh?! Watching the film, I was wildly applauding Aronofsky's superballsy audacious vision while simultaneously cringing at his simplistic sentimentality. The Special Effects are average at best. The Fountain is like watching a bad episode of ER and Battle Star Galatica.Un très grand film! - Tigidou
Not for everyone obviously.... - Hadrianopolis
Sure, this movie isn't easy to follow with it's constant shifting between different ages but it has great qualities; wonderful score by Clint Mansell, beautiful visuals that are almost oniric and a storyline that requires some brain efforts from the viewer which is getting rare nowadays. It's basically a movie about love and acceptance of human mortality, nothing more. it's not that difficult to understand. After reading some of the negative comments( and negative is weak word here ) I don't understand the point of writing a review if the only comment you can think of is to say that this is the worst movie ever...these kind of reviews are pointless and are no help to anyone.
