Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny
The Greatest Motion Picture of All Time.
Pick of Destiny follows the comedic tale of two aspiring rock stars, Jack Black and Kyle Gass, who form a band and set out to seek their fame—but something is missing... notably the "fame". Jack and Kyle stumble on a legend that speaks of a darkly magic guitar pick that carries great power—the "Pick of Destiny". The two decide to embark on a comical odyssey for the pick and the fame and fortune that go with it - a quest that involves an epic journey (well, sort of epic), mysterious strangers, some interesting mushrooms and an inspired break-in into the Rock and Roll Museum to get the pick and meet their destiny.

This film, considered by many to be Jack Black's magnum opus, starts off strong, where it depicts him as a child who is forced to leave his home and family in order to pursue his dream of becoming a rock god.
The next half-hour, showing the early relationship between the two members of Tenacious D, is ponderous.
But it then kicks into high-gear, when the "Pick of Destiny" fantasy is introduced, and builds until the inevitable showdown between our heroes and the forces of darkness.
The acoustic music of Tenacious D sounds like the British group The Strawbs, while the harder songs are a combination of Meatloaf, Queen, and Black Sabbath.
The high points are the appearances by Ben Stiller and Tim Robbins(as a kind of Rasputin/Aqualung) and more such cameos would have made this movie alot better.Fun - Poet
It sure was fun to have a new twist in the musical genre with this Classic Rock musical! I did love the reference to other movies, like A Clockwork Orange. I also enjoyed the music and the cameos from the likes of Meat Load, Dio and Tim Robbins. Some of the stuff was overly silly at times, but I found myself laughing and having fun quite a bit all through the viewing of the movie. So, it was not a total loss.
