Catch and Release
After the sudden death of her fiance, Gray Wheeler (Garner) finds comfort in the company of his friends: lighthearted and comic Sam (Kevin Smith), hyper responsible Dennis (Sam Jager) and, oddly enough, his old childhood buddy Fritz (Timothy Olyphant), an irresponsible playboy whom she'd previously pegged as one of the least reliable people in the world. As secrets about her supposedly perfect fiance emerge, Gray comes to see new sides of the man she though she knew, and at the same time, finds herself drawn to the last man she ever expected to fall for.

Made me laugh, and made me cry... - Darkside
Made me laugh, for about 3 seconds collectively during the entire movie.
Made me cry, because I watched the whole thing and it just didn't get any better...
Bad plot, bad acting, can't save a bad movie I suppose... I gave this three stars because my wife liked it.
Jennifer Garner's career has not exactly taken a turn for the better since, well, Daredevil. This one dfinately doesn't help. Kevin Smith is decent, and I think that's being generous since I think he is a great writer and director.
And am I the only one who hates Juliette Lewis' vapid, mail-it-in acting? Because all I hear is how good of an actor she is.
Stay away. And you're welcome for telling you so.NOT agood movie - jewels3434
Predictable, cheesy, boring, far fetched, dumb, bad acting, and plenty more. What a waste of time watching this movie. It was all of the things i said above and more. I like romantic comedies usually but i dont even know if this is one. not a comedy and not romantic so i guess it isn't. than what the heck is it? besides bad?Solid Start But Too Much Cheese - FilmJunkie
Yes, I am a big Deadwood fan and therefore I love anything with Timothy Olyphant in it. I also love Kevin Smith and Juliette Lewis and I have a complex love-hate relationship with Jennifer Garner (basically, love 'Alias', question everything else). So I didn't know what to expect from this movie that tries to be a rom-com as well as a story of mourning and a film about how men and women can be friends.
The beginning of the movie is very entertaining and we get a strong sense of who these characters are with some humorous Smith scenes and Garner being typically cutesy. Olyphant is oddly sexual and appealing throughout.
As the film continues, the surprises lessen and the characters begin to bore. Thus, even though we have always known the outcome, we are less interested to follow these people there.
I wanted this film to be better because they do take a chance in the setting of Boulder, Colorado, and they question the 'When Harry Met Sally' idea about whether men and women can be friends without sex. Yet in the end, it is predictable and sappy. If only there was more Olyphant and less cliches.
