The Celestine Prophecy
What if Heaven and Earth are the Same Place?
Based on the worldwide best-selling novel and philosophy by James Redfield, The Celestine Prophecy is now the movie adventure of a lifetime.
John Woodson, an out-of-work teacher, is about to experience a dramatic and profound metamorphosis. Through a mysterious set of coincidences, he finds himself embarking on an adventure to the rainforests of Peru in search of nine ancient scrolls, known as the Celestine Prophecy. The prophecy and its nine key insights predict a worldwide awakening that redefines human life and provides a glimpse into a deeper level of spirituality emerging on earth.
When corrupt church officials discover that a ninth scroll exists, they vow to move heaven and earth to stop the prophecy from being revealed. John's journey to discovery takes an adventurous turn filled with mysterious events and chance meetings none of which prove to be mere coincidence. Each person who crosses his path gives him a clue to solving the timeless mystery of the ninth scroll, but can he discover its meaning in time?

This is a weak "hero's journey" story. The acting and directing is on par with bad early-80s TV cop shows. The main character is not necessary for any major event in the film. The antagonists' motivation is weak. Generally, a bad film.
The only reason I give it two stars is because it has an interesting premise. But even that is double-edged. The description: "based on the worldwide best-selling novel and philosophy by James Redfield" has me worried that more fiction writers are trying to establish religions....What a boring movie! - Poudrerie
It's rare that I fall asleep on a movie, but this one was so bad I couldn't help it. After more than an hour of watching it, it seemed like it was going nowhere, the plot was weak, and the "special effect" that made us see the "energy" very lame.
I regretted renting it for sure!Great for a B movie - chipsnbeer
The acting and script were poor, but I knew this was a low budget B movie going in. The message the movie was trying to present was stated over and over again. That was a little irritating and felt like it tried to make the viewer as not too bright. I hate it when movies try to insult our intelligence this way. There were some great nugets I came away with and for that to happen with a B movie I have to give it thumbs up.
