Masters of Horror: Pelts
From Dario Argento, director of "Suspiria," "Opera" and "Jenifer."
Meat Loaf stars as Jake Feldman, a shorttempered furrier struggling to build a small-time business while being tormented by his obsession for a sexy stripper. But when a sadistic backwoods trapper kills a strange group of pet raccoons, Jake knows their luxurious hides could make a coat that will change his fortunes forever. Only these are no ordinary pelts: Everyone who comes in contact with the cursed furs is soon driven to unspeakable acts of self-mutilation and extreme violence. Even if Jake can now possess the flesh he desperately covets, what horrific final price will he pay for the skin he’s in?

This is another episode of MOH that everyone hates, and I don't know why. I thought it was really interesting and really freaky. Not a lot of movies will turn my stomach inside out, especially not one-hour movies, but this one definitely did. Everything about it worked for me, even if there were some segments that dragged. There's the usual Argento hatred of women to deal with, but once you accept that he's a macho pig, you can also accept that he's a visual horror genius.Very good installment - Coconut_Willy
Maybe after a few so-so episodes, I have lowered my expectations but I thought this one was excellent; probably the best of season 2 up to that point. The storyline might be a bit on the odd side but at least it does have some originality and is well developed. There is an atmosphere that is sustained throughout the movie. The cast is quite good (including a brief appearance from veteran John Saxon) doing a pretty good acting job with an average dialogue. The sets and locations are quite good, the soundtrack is interesting and the camera work is sometimes surprising. This installment is incredibly gory with numerous disgusting death scenes that are pretty well made. Considering that this was made for television, I thought it was way above average for a horror show.the best of the worst - TMFan
Pelts was by far my favorite from season 2, and it wasn't even that great. The Masters of horror show had terrific names in the genre attached to it and was like a dream come true for horror fans when it was announced. Although some innovative directors were back in respectable form, others showed they had lost it. Tobe Hooper anyone?
Dario Argento's Pelts is a minor improvement over his previous entry and is the bloodiest of them all, but still feels lackluster like the whole season basically. However Dario knows how to keep you interested and displays here some of his usual distinctive style.
It's the only episode I really recommend from that season although The Black Cat is pretty decent also.
