Because I Said So
She's just your normal, overprotective, overbearing, over-the-top mother.
Daphne Wilder (Diane Keaton) is a mother whose love knows no bounds or boundaries. She is the proud mom of three daughters: stable psychologist Maggie (Lauren Graham), sexy and irreverent Mae (Piper Perabo) and insecure, adorable Milly (Mandy Moore)—who, when it comes to men, is like psychotic flypaper.
In order to prevent her youngest from making the same mistakes she did, Daphne decides to set Milly up with the perfect man. Little does Milly know, however, that her mom placed an ad in the online personals to find him. Comic mayhem unfolds as Daphne continues to do the wrong thing for the right reasons... all in the name of love.
In a hilarious battle of strong wills, the mother-daughter dynamic is tested in all its fierce, wacky complexity. The girls help Daphne finally discover the truths and impossibilities of motherly love, all while trying to answer the questions: where does it begin and where should it end?

I read the reviews of this movie after I had received it but decided to give it a fair chance. I should not have bothered. The two that gave it 1 star rating were spot on.
The movie was:
bad taste,
crude,
poorly acted,
boring,
lacking a story line that was in any way interesting,
and the blu-ray might as well not have been.
There were moments when I wished I had simply put it back in the envelope without watching after I had read what the other reviews reported.
Don't waste your time. You could watch paint dry and enjoy it more.because it's that bad - tlefrancois
Waw! I have not seen such a bad film in a really long time...more like never actually. this is truly appalling. Lets start with the Small tragedy, the actors. Dian Keaton, normally an amazing actress somehow managed to do a really bad job with this one. Her acting was way over the top and more like hysterical really. It was like she was lending her voice to an animated film! Mandy Moore was actually better than her if u can believe it. But still quite bad. And as for the rest of the cast well there were none! we can say they were put there so that Dian Keaton and Mandy Moore can create dialog with someone other than themselves.
Now for the major tragedy, the script. A horror story put together to make the audience quiver with every uttered line! and the lines just keep getting worse and worse until we reach the climactic scene where we cave in and can no longer hold the vomit! Horrible predictable and very illogical plot. Corny is an understatement for the lines of this dialog. No depth or substance to characters. It's such a disappointment.Mother Knows Best? - RxWiz
I'm glad I waited till after I watched this movie to read the reviews, because I probably wouldn't have watched it if I'd read them first, and I would have missed out on a couple of hours of mindless, heartwarming entertainment.
Sure, it's a predictable chick flick that follows a time-worn plot, with a few characters who really added nothing to the story, but I didn't expect any more from it and I wasn't disappointed.
Quite the contrary, I thoroughly enjoyed losing myself in the battle between mother & daughter and I think Diane Keaton's performance as a neurotic mom who wants the best for her youngest daughter was believable, although a bit over the top. I had more trouble believing Mandy Moore's character, but I can understand how a relationship like that could develop and the daughter's struggle for autonomy plays heavily against her desire to please Mom, who's always been there with the answer in the past.
The singing sessions added nothing to the storyline, other than give all the characters something to share at the end.
This may not have been cinema-worthy, but it's worth a couple of bucks to rent, if you're looking for a light romantic comedy with all the usual cliches.
