Hellboy Animated: Sword of Storms
When a professor of folklore opens an ancient scroll and becomes possessed by powerful spirits, the authorities call on Hellboy for help. But Hellboy has battles of his own when he picks up a samurai sword that transports him to a netherworld of ghosts and monsters. Intrigue and action abound in Hellboy's first animated feature.

I thought this was an enjoyable - mature slanted - animated movie and it is worth a rental for Hellboy fans. However, the animation just can't compare with some of the better Anime out there in terms of character design and the flow of the animation. The story was interesting but the pacing could have been tighter. It felt less like "what will happen next?" and more like "I know what is coming, let's get to the finale".
I think I am being a little harder on this film because of all the talented people who were involved - del Toro, Mignola - I expected more than your run of the mill story/animation.
Oh also, even though it is in some ways cool that they got the movie actors to voice the characters, they would have been much better off getting REAL voice actors who know their craft Selma and Ron might be great on screen but they lacked the energy and skill needed for an animated movie. This is a pet peeve of mine. Stop getting "big name actors" to do the voices in animated movies and get professional voice actors to do it.Hellboy still rocks - Movieguy4
a solid addition to the Hellboy series, this film has good, stylish animation, interesting stories incorporated into the plot (the vampire heads, and spider lady in paricular), and perhaps most impressively, the same voice talent as the feature film, which helps with the continuity.
the background art creates a vivid atmosphere for the characters to stroll through.
recommended for fans of Hellboy and animation in general.
