Off the Black
Would you let this man be your father.
Nick Nolte stars as Ray Cooke, a disheveled, grumpy high school umpire who forms an unlikely friendship with a troubled teenager, Dave Tibbel (Morgan). As the two grow more dependent on each other, Ray asks Dave to go to his 40th high school reunion and pretend to be his son, a benevolent act of deception that winds up opening unexpected dimensions in the two men.

Horrible movie, you’re better off watching paint dry then watching this movie, you’d certainly be less disappointed. A boy toilet papers a man’s house and the pretends to be his son for a reunion, simple concept but this film takes a depressed approach to everything even the acting, making you want to shut it off before the second scene even starts.Extremely bored and confused ... - TheWorldOfTeE
... would it not be considered odd for a young man to accompany and older alcoholic man to his school reunion, to lie and say that he was his son, to please the masses ... in reality this would be illegal ... i didn't understand why the boy would agree to that, even if he felt sorry for the guy ... and what was up with the boy's father ... i know that the mother left but there was no background as to what happened and how the father ended up the way he was ... i thought that the storyline was terrible and definately wouldn't recommend this movie to anyone even if they had nothing else to watch ... i found it slow and hard to follow because it was so boring ... Good luck Nick Nolte after this performance you're gonna need more then luck!TOO SLOW...BORING - Ricardo
even if the script had the best of intentions and the acting wasn't bad. Nolte plays his usual overbearing character role (how he managed to give the performance he did in The Prince of Tides is still an unknown to me). The movie had all the right clichés, the balance of drama and humor, and everything else required for the formula. It just didn't do anything for me. I struggled to get to the end of the movie.
Don't recommend it unless you have nothing else to watch
