The Drowning Pool
The Paul Newman Collection
Harper (Paul Newman) is brought to Louisiana bayou country to investigate an attempted blackmail scheme. He soon finds out that it involves an old flame of his and her hellion of a daughter. What's more, he finds himself caught in a power struggle between the matriarch of the family and a greedy oil baron, who wants her property. Poor Harper! Things are not as straight-forward as they initially appeared.

Newman's Film Noir - BogieMan
This will not be remembered as Paul Newman's best movie but it is still very good. This is a fairly slow moving Film Noirish type private eye movie. It move along at just the right pace so as not to bore you and there are enough memorable moments to make it worth watching. If I had to compare this movie to another Newman movie that also stared Melanie Griffith, "Nobody's Fool" I would have to give it to "Nobody's Fool" but that said both are worth watching.
