A Crude Awakening: The Oil Crash
The story of how our civilization's addiction to oil puts it on a collision course with geology. Compelling, intelligent, and highly entertaining, the film visits with the world's top experts and comes to a startling but logical conclusion – our industrial society, built on cheap and readily available oil, must be completely re-imagined and overhauled.

Bad documentary! - Janek
Perfect example of a bloated script and lazy editing. It's just tooo looong! Loses its way about half an hour in. Until then it's rather effective, and you can barely guess how tedious it will become, which makes it all the more frustrating. All the classic mistakes appear with a vengeance. Pacing slows down, talking heads go bananas, editing falls asleep, narrative arc loses focus. Cut this doc down to a good, made-for-TV 52 minutes and maybe, just maybe it could survive into posterity.Stark - leeloo
It's been over a month since I've seen this 90 minute documentary and just can't get it off my mind. It's informative, bleak, stark and not candy coated. All the people interviewed for this documentary are not just analysts or professors, they're the people in the field at the top of the mega corps and government. Scary. The party is winding down! - honeybee
This was a great film that should be required viewing for everyone on this planet. The fossil fuels which our modern socieites are based on, which make our economies and lifestyles possible are running out. We are ill prepared for what happens next. Global warming may be the least of our worries, since soon enough we won't have enough fuel to pollute the environment. Long term, we could face much larger problems of potential economic and societal collapse as this source of cheap and abundant energy runs out. This film also discusses what we might be doing to prepare for this upcoming reality.
