The Man Who Sued God
When all else fails, blame the Almighty!
When lightning destroys his boat, fisherman Steve Myers
(Billy Connolly) is told it is an "act of God." So he
decides that if God is responsible for the loss of his boat, then God can bloody well pay for it! He prepares a case against God and challenges the Churches and insurance
companies in this hilarious tale of the audacious little
underdog going head-to-head with the powers that be.

Love the idea and it makes a point - popcorny
First, I know billy Connolly is in this, and some might think this is ment to be a comedy, well it is not. It actually raises a good point, and the argument is sound. I wont go into detail, dont want to give stuff away. My wife and I got sucked into the movie, started slow but as the whole idea behind the movie started to roll, in really made sence. Worth a watch.KUDOS FOR A LOW-BUDGET FILM - Ricardo
This movie had many shortfalls. The plot was definitely original, but the script and the dialogue were no more than average. I think what saved the movie from total obscurity was the idea at the center of the movie and the excellent acting by the two main characters. In the hands of a big studio, with big-name actors, this would have likely been a worldwide blockbuster.

This is an all but perfect 'little' film, with many dimensions. Ostensibly, it's the tale of a drop-out lawyer who seeks to get repayment for his destroyed boat, by an attack on the legal fiction of an "act of God." But it's also a look at the many ways in which our culture uses and mis-uses the term "God."
Billy Connolly is impeccably cast in the title role. The comedic aspects of the character give his wry humor maximum scope. Yet he remains credible as a man with an admirable philosophy of life.
This is one of many recent Australian flicks that are not to be missed. (If you get a chance, see also Me Myself I, Siam Sunset, Strange Bedfellows, and, of course, Muriel's Wedding.)
