I liked this one but I didn't love it. Planet Terror was much better (more action) and Machette was the best one of all. There was great action at the beginning then it got a little too slow in the middle. You were tempted to fast forward, cause it was just a lot of banter. But once the action started up again you are not disappointed. I would recommend watching this one first then planet terror, as I watched it the other way and was hoping for a comparable movie in this one and was let down a little. (Sorry about the spelling)

Shut Up and Drive - ABC99

When Death Proof lets loose its awesome. The actions sequences explode off the screen with energy and orignality. Between them are sequences of dialogue that go on and on past the point of being engaging to the point of being a bore. Part of the issue is the caliber of acting delivering the dialogue falls way short of what Tarintino is used to. Usually Tarintino dialogue feels original and refreshing...here it feels laboured. You still need to see this film to the action sequences and the kick ass Kurt Russell.

Two Kick Ass Movies for the Price of One - LandPhil

Watching these movies was the most fun I've had in a movie theatre in a long time. You have to hand it to Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino, they know how to pay hommage to the movies they loved to watch in their youth. Watching Grindhouse brought back some of my own memories of favourite b-movies. Planet Terror (Robert Rodriguez) was without a doubt my favourite of the two, it had everything to make the experience so enjoyable, hilarious cheesy dialogue, crazy splatter gore, a mundane plot filled with holes, plus Rose McGowan using a machine gun as a prosthetic leg (pure genius). Unfortunately, I was pretty disappointed by Death Proof, which is surprising because I enjoy Quentin Tarantino movies so much. I think the problem with QT's movie was the dialogue between the women in his film. Normally, his style of long conversations that have zero relevance to the story and peppered with funny pop culture references is what makes his movies so good. But he didn't succeed here, aside from a few moments, most of the non-action scenes are really boring and not very funny. The girls conversations in the car, bar and diner were just long and pointless, and while some may argue that it's done intentionally, I really don't think so. I think QT just wrote a dud. That being said the action scenes are very cool and the edge of your seat stunt driving is the best part of this movie. Kurt Russell as Stuntman Mike was great, his scenes are the best part of this movie, when he's flirting with the girls in the bar was very good. The trailers before and in between the movies were hilarious and it would be great if they actually got made into movies.
