Everything's Gone Green
A new sort of comedy.
Ryan (Paulo Constanzo), late twenties and not getting any younger, is tempted into a money-laundering scheme but struggles with his ill-gotten gains while trying to find happiness. He tries hard not to try hard but is surrounded by over-achievers. His hippie friend has gone capitalistic in a not-so-legal way. His older brother has always been capitalistic in a legal if not-so-ethical way. His father, after losing his job and his faith in the system, has found profitable promise outside of the establishment. Even the woman he desires is comfortable to be cared for by a big-time car thief.

Spectacularly Unentertaining - Gatsby
This is the kind of movie that gives Canadian film a bad rap. It tries way too hard to capture the challenges of mediocrity but forgets to be funny in the least bit. The characters are weak and one dimensional. Terribly terribly disappointing. I din't even laugh once, which is not a good sign for a movie claiming to be a comedy.Beautiful shots of Vancouver - Benson
This was a decent enough movie that had some promise, but it didn't really deliver. Paulo Constanzo plays a young man in Vancouver who's life is turned upside down, when his girlfriend leaves him and his job suspends him. Constanzo did a wonderful job acting and was quite convincing. In the end he realizes that money isn't everything and does a lot of growing in the process.
I'd recommend Douglas Copeland's Jpod series instead. Both this film and the series have a lot of similarities. It can be found on DVD.Depressing Comedy - kav2001c
Ryan is working day to day in a dead end job (he photographs people who win the lottery). One day on a beach he meets the beautiful Ming (played brilliantly by Steph Song). Problem is, despite Ming's admirable goals, she has apparently sold her soul to Bryce, her money loving possesive boyfriend. Bryce helps launder money for the mafia, and when learning Ryan is involved with the lottery he proposes a side deal; sell him the winning tickets for a profit (to launder the money).
Steph is great in this film, as are many of her scenes (the one with Bryce trying to learn Mandarin, and her granny with the knife are hysterical)
