If you can see the future, you can save it.
Las Vegas showroom magician Cris Johnson (Nicolas Cage) has a secret which is a gift and a curse which torments him: he can see a few minutes into the future. Sick of the examinations he underwent as a child and the interest of the government and medical establishment in his power, he lies low under an assumed name in Vegas, performing cheap tricks and living off small-time gambling “winnings.” But when a terrorist group threatens to detonate a nuclear device in Los Angeles, government agent Callie Ferris (Julianne Moore) must use all her wiles to capture Cris and convince him to help her stop the cataclysm.

Even compared to the usual absurdity of storylines in Hollywood action movies, this flick is remarkably silly. Why an actor like Nicholas Cage would agree to play the lead in such a lame thing, cobbled up from little bits that are in turn disgustingly violent, cheaply tacky, largely predictable and from start und end completely unconvincing, beats me and can probably only be explained by the age of the movie.
The only original work on the basic idea (man able to foresee own future two minutes ahead) was Cage predicting all the pick-up lines that would not work on the female lead and consequently deciding to allow her violent ex-boyfriend to beat him up, so as to make her feel sorry for him. Funny, that.
Briefly felt reconciled with movie when in violation of every Hollywood rule entire outfit was blown up in a nuclear explosion five minutes before the end of the flick - but, alas, it turns out to be just another of Cage's flash-aheads.Great Movie - LadyBugAbode
I'm sad to hear that so many people didn't care for this movie, as my husband and I thought it was great. We liked the ending, but thought it could have been done better, in the sense that they could have taken it one step further.
Honestly, I didn't even notice the dialogue that others commented on, but I think that's because I wasn't expecting an Oscar winner. This is an action flick, intended to entertain, and that it did. We found the story unique and compelling enough to want to see it through, and always enjoy Nicolas Cage. The special effects were well done, but not over the top (in other words, I wasn’t thinking, “Wow, look at those special effects!”).
I would recommend this movie, and think if you’re a Nicolas Cage fan, that you’ll probably enjoy it.Imagine the posibilities! (but remember the limitations...) - Matrix
To be able to see the future it would be a nice thing. To be able to see only couple minutes ahead - that gives you a power with limitations, which creates a better plot. I would recommend it for a those who likes action or SF movies, although it should be good for most people. Few scenes in these movie I liked so much that I have to watch them few times (and I am not doing it usually). If you liked "Gone in 60 sec" with Nicolas Cage you should like this one too. Overall: worth to see.
