28 Weeks Later
When days turns to weeks... the horror returns.
The terror and devastation unleashed in 28 Days Later picks up six months after the Rage virus has decimated London in this heart-stopping horror sequel that "surpasses the original" (Dallas Morning News). With order restored and the war against the infection won, the U.S. Army steps in to help repatriate Mainland Britain. But one of the returning refugees carries a terrible secret that threatens to reignite the deadly explosion of bloodlust, carnage and chaos. 28 Weeks Later ratchets up the thrills - "Hold on for a hell of a ride." (Rolling Stone).

No question, 28 Days was an adrenalized gore-fest, but its power was in the implied horror. A story is told by a survivor of being in a packed train station as the infection spreads through the crowd. His lingering trauma as he describes climbing over others to escape is far more terrifying than a similar scene that acts such events out explicitly in 28 Weeks Later. The imagined horror is always far worse than the witnessed.Brilliant, Fantastic, Terrific!! - Danimal
28 Days was great but 28 Weeks is light years ahead.
The way Fresnadillo directed this was masterful.
Now THAT is how you make a horror movie.
It had my on the edge of my seat for the entire duration of the movie.
Robert Carlyle was amazing. Some have said they had difficulty understanding him. It's only a Scottish accent... and considering there were actors in this film from such diverse places as Australia, USA, Scotland and Britain... I think they all did a fantastic job with the accents.
True, there were plausibility issues with the fact that they were repatriating London only 28 weeks later and BEFORE they had even finished cleaning up the dead bodies OR finding survivors, Helicopter with endless fuel supply, locked doors that apparently were NOT very well locked, etc, etc... but if you let go of that, the movie delivers suspense and horror in spades.
The ending was a tiny bit predictable... I think I saw it coming about a minute and a half before it actually happened.
I absolutely loved this film. Worth owning.Disapointing sequel - InpraiseofFolly
The reason why I enjoyed Danny Boyle's 28 Days later was the subtlety and intelligence that was used to convey the story. It was also a different approach to the "Romero"-esque brain-dead zombies that were omnipresent throughout the genre. 28 WEEKS later, however, seems like such a useless film compared to its predecessor as it does not add anything to it and even cheapens it considerably. The story is just an excuse to make things explode or to see rotting corpses. The main characters are incredibly annoying and completely useless. I remember being scared for days after having viewed the first film, but this just bored me to tears. I know that I might seem overly venomous and fanatical in my analysis of the film, but I'm frankly just annoyed at the thousand sequels that have littered the box office this Summer that offer nothing new or remotely interesting to their respective precursors. 28 Weeks later was like a badly plotted Fanfiction... I will say however that the first 10 minutes did look promising, so it's not all bad.
