Georgia Rule
Mother. Daughter. Grandmother.
In this family, attitude doesn't skip a generation.
Rebellious teenager Rachel (Lindsay Lohan) screams, swears, drinks and is—in a word—uncontrollable. With her latest car crash, Rachel has broken the final rule in mom Lily's (Felicity Huffman) San Francisco home. With nowhere else to take the impulsive and rambunctious girl, Lily hauls her daughter to the one place she swore she'd never return... her own mother's Idaho farm.
Matriarch Georgia (Jane Fonda) is not your typical sweet and doting grandmother. She lives her life by a number of unbreakable rules, demanding anyone who shares her home do the same—God comes first and hard work comes a very close second. Now saddled with raising the young woman, it will require each patient breath she takes to understand Rachel's fury.
But as Rachel succumbs to her summer of misery and shakes up the tiny Mormon town, Georgia notices something is changing within her granddaughter. Given structure and responsibilities, Rachel is letting her guard down and learning compassion... especially for her mother. Her journey will lead all three women to revelations of buried family secrets and an understanding that—regardless what happens—the ties that bind can never be broken.

Hey, I got all the way through! - KevinJaques
An appalling chick flick of the well-worn plot where the crotchety grandmother (Jane Fonda in this case) reaches out to bad girl (Lindsay Lohan) and in the process, repairs her relationship with her own alienated daughter, played by one of the desperate housewives.
So stylized! In a very bad way. The dialogue often sounded like a Very Serious High School Student had written it. It tried so hard to be crisply concise and meaningful, but most of the time just left my head shaking. The line had meant nothing, but the situation was so obvious that it didn't matter.
And naturally, there had to be a dirty devil man abusing young girls sexually. At least they balanced this with positive male characters. However, those characters were taken from the other drawer of male characters so popular in movies for women, extremely good-looking, endlessly patient, inexplicably smitten and glad to say so.
But Lindsay’s tits and legs were bouncing around a lot and I was glad to be sitting after a tough day, and my wife seemed to be enjoying it, so we finished it.
How much bouncing? A lot of movies pander to a taste for young girls while singing a pious hymn to the contrary. In fairness, that wasn't this movie. She wasn't that young, not glamorized, and it didn't focus on that. And while they weren't too analytical about the male end, they fairly showed that sometimes the female end of such things is complex, even while it firmly brought out some inherent badness in such relationships.
Oh wait, I did like one line, which I shall now spoil. The bad girl had apparently heard bad things of the crotchety grandmother, so says, "Funny, you don't look evil." Grandma says, "Makeup helps."Better Than I Expected! - Jeefster
This was supposed to be a "chick-flick" that I rented for my wife but ended up watching after missing the first 5 or so minutes. The acting of all the women was especially riveting, given that they all sort of carry some kind of negative baggage from their personal lives. Overlook this, which I did, and you will find yourself treated to a good solid drama that goes into some pretty deep issues.
The biggest surprise for me was the acting abilities of Lindsay, who I've actually never seen in a movie previous to this, and it was actually amazing to see her come across as this mixed up, messed up, sexual manipulator.
I'd read reviews on this film and they weren't too generous with their praise, yet I found that the storyline kept you watching and guessing, and in the end you actually get a good feeling for these women for their future together, regardless of the consequences of their decisions.
Like was mentioned above, the issues here are very disturbing and so may turn some viewers off as things get a little graphic and a little too much information is sometimes shed. But being an adult in today's liberated society I'm sure you'll find this movie quite stimulating.
P.S. Felicity Huffman's role was so incredibly
realistically portrayed that you find
yourself forgetting that she's just acting
and she gets my total admiration for this

Since I had not seen any advertising or trailers for this movie, I had no advance expectations. I was not expecting a comedy or a chick flick. What I saw was an excellent drama (with funny moments), good story and characters with depth, well played by all the actors. Jane Fonda was particularly effective as the strong-minded matriarch of the family.
My only criticism would be that Lindsay Lohan did not look like a 17 year old kid. However, she did play the role well, and with attitude.
