The Tiger and the Snow (La tigre e la neve)
The Tiger and the Snow is about a Roman poet and lecturer named Attilio (Benigni) who feels compelled to head to Baghdad when he discovers that the woman he loves, Vittoria (Nicoletta Braschi) has been seriously injured during a bomb explosion. Moving heaven and earth, he manages to get to Iraq, and through a combination of luck and pig-headedness, and inspired by his passionate love of Vittoria, he finds the hospital where Vittoria has been taken. Unconscious, and more dead than alive, the woman of his dreams is in need of a drug that will relieve the pressure of the cerebral edema that is killing her. Given that there is nothing immediately available, Attilio goes off into the city in search of the drug - to find only abandoned pharmacies and ruins. Refusing to abandon hope, Attilio must confront the horrors and disasters of war to save the love of his life.

Life is Beautiful redux - feliper
Roberto Benigni has re-made Life is Beautiful only this time in modern-day Iraq and instead of telling stories to his son, it is his comatose lover. It's a beautiful and touching story, but again the horror of war is only a set-up for more of Benigni's antics. Still, nobody does antics like Bennigni and it's worth seeing just for his crazy behaviour and unstinting belief in the power of love. The Tiger and the Snow BLOWS! - ziply
I wish wish wish that I had gone on Rotten Tomatoes before adding this movie to my zip list. Instead, I read the reviews 15 minutes into it, when I was trying to decide if I should keep on going or GIVE UP! The movie received an unheard of 18% on rottentomatoes.com and the comments were hilarious and SO negative! I would not recommend this movie to anyone who is a critical thinker, likes good acting, or a clever plot.Bitter Sweet - Catmehndi
There are certain things one expects when viewing a Benigni movie and I believe everything is in this one: humour, sensitive themes, drama and of course, love. This movie came highly recommended to me, promising to make me laugh and cry. I did laugh, but not as much as I had hoped and I did not cry, not even close. The story is highly unlikely, perhaps the reason I wasn't moved as much as I thought I might be. Still, a good performance. I recommend watching in Italian with sub-titles.
