It's He-Man John Wayne at his best!
Kit Madden is traveling to Hollywood, where her best-selling novel is to be filmed. Aboard the train, she encounters Marines Rusty and Dink, who don't know she is the author of the famous book, and who don't think much of the ideas it proposes. She and Rusty are greatly attracted, but she doesn't know how to deal with his disdain for the book's author.

Starts off well, but falls into typical Hollywood stereotypes... - Yogini
John Wayne does a really good job - which surprises me. Claudette Colbert is always wonderful. The premise, for the times (post WWII), is good - a real (as opposed to "reel") female character actually functions well, has a successful book, and has her head on straight. When the film falls into typical Hollywood schlock, it gets really quite embarrassing. The moving-train scenes are well done - the scenery passing the windows is a revelation: Did America really look like that in the 1940s?Starts off a little slow, but with a big finish - GoldwynGal
The premise of the film makes for a slow beginning. It looked like it would be a total dud, but after about the first fifteen minutes it sped up to a decent comedic pace. Most entertaining is the Jack Benny cameo, and the triangle when Wayne's head is turned by a Spanish girl.Loved It!! - fairweather
An instant classic! Lighthearted, funny, warm and enjoyable, a real treat from an unforgettable era of classic filmography. Well worth the renting, this is actually a bit of a chick flick, so ladies will likely enjoy it more than boyfriends or hubbies will. Fun to watch and an enjoyable escape, the acting is wonderful and it's easy to lose yourself in the storyline. Recommended.
