I gave this movie a four star rating because I thouroughly enjoyed the exploration of the role of the sin eater. Further research showed that very little information is available about the role that these individuals played in Celtic death rituals.
There was a very heavy theme of Christian redemption in the film, with the central message being that Chirst was the final Sin Eater and that no human could/ should shoulder such a burden. When I went back to look at the original posting here on Zip, I noticed that Michael Landon Jr. was the director of the film. That made everything very clear, as it had reminded me of the "Little House on the Prairie" morality which always tied itself up neatly by the end of the episode.
Despite my distaste for the last element, I would not hesitate to recommend this film.
