Diggers
A coming-of-age story about four working-class friends growing up in Long Island as clam diggers. Their fathers were clam diggers as well as their grandfathers before them.
A funny, heartfelt story about a tightly-knit group of friends, who try to maintain their small-town way of life in the face of enormous changes in 1970s South Fork and Suffolk County (better known as "The Hamptons").
Hunt (Paul Rudd) and his best friends Frankie Lozo (Ken Marino), Cons (Josh Hamilton) and Jack (Ron Eldard) are hard-living clam diggers whose livelihoods are threatened by an encroaching corporation, forcing them to consider new directions in life.

I Can't Believe I Watched The Whole Thing - Photosytes
This movie was terrible. I really can't believe I sat through the whole thing. I don't think it was the acting that made this movie a bust for me. I think the director created a time machine and went back to the 70s in order to film it in such poor quality. Maybe that's what he was going for but if I didn't know better, I would have thought it was filmed back then.
I'm not found of overly excessive language in films, so that was one strike against this movie for me. It just seemed to follow a group of people through some bad times but really didn't illicite any significant emotions.
I also didn't feel that the plot was thought out well and seemed to jump back and forth without really developing the plot much.
Big thumbs down for me.A small character study film with a big heart - joelmcq
Diggers is a nice independant film, well acted with a touching story. It's made up of actors who primarily do TV work, but they turn in more than acceptable performances. It's more of a drama than comedy, but it has a few, quite funny moments. I wouldn't put it at the top of your Ziplist, but it'll be a pleasant suprise when it arrives.diggers - binky
this film takes place in the mid-70's about a community of 'clam diggers' living and working around the south hamptons. this area was just on the brink of being bought and developed into expensive cottage country. it is a nicely layered film about the relationships of a group of guys now in their mid-30's whose livelihoods are slowly being taken away from them.
the characters of the guys are very relateable - especially, ron eldard and josh hamilton. even though they live in a small community, we all know someone like them. love or hate them, they are part of our lives and experience. they have lived in this environment since birth and their lives are read like an open book. each character is 'out there' and our connection to each of them makes them memorable.
