Wedding Wars
His brother is out. His wedding gift is off. The war is on.
Shel Grandy (John Stamos), a gay party planner, is asked by his straight brother Ben (Eric Dane - Grey’s Anatomy) to organize his wedding to Maggie Welling (Bonnie Somerville, The O.C.). But when Governor Welling (James Brolin), who is Ben’s boss and Maggie’s father, speaks out against gay marriage, Ben decides to go on strike. The wedding is almost off when Maggie sides with Shel, while Shel’s boyfriend Ted (Sean Maher) supports Ben’s position. Shel’s stand becomes the focus of national media attention with gays across the country striking for equal rights.

Lighthearted...to an Extent - Chraspin
I happened to like this film, though not as enthusiastically as most other reviewers. The good aspects of this film are the lightheartedness, humour, reasonably good acting, and general cinematography. It takes a political issue and explores it on a personal and largely respectful manner.
However, it often veers into the political in an obvious, though perhaps uninentional, way. Of course, one of the characters is a politician, so this is somewhat unavoidable. However, some of the conversations seem to be overly "issue-driven". Perhaps better acting could have helped (not that it was all that bad to begin with), but only to an extent.
Overall, though, it was a nice, timely movie worthy of my three stars.I liked it - nickell
I like it I'm going to lie. It was a light hearted approach to a serious and sensitive topic. John Stamos as entertaining and believable as a gay man who fights for the right to marry his partner, with is biggest opposition being his brother and his future father in law. I serious topic sure but one that when appraoched in this manner is shown from both sides in a respectful manner.Heart warming and entertaining. - Ghosthunterwa
From start to finish, this movie brought the ever controversial topic of gay marriage into the lime light. The struggles they endure to be excepted in society the problems they overcome. The movie itself showed I think very well what everyone is like in a normal day to day life of humanity and gave insight to both sides of the coin. I recommend this movie. It was very heartwarming, funny, entertaining and well done.
