Some people would kill to be in love.
John Travolta, James Gandolfini, Salma Hayek, Jared Leto and Laura Dern star in this crime-thriller, based on a true story.
Two homicide detectives (Travolta, Gandolfini) track down Martha Beck (Hayek) and Raymond Martinez Fernandez (Leto), a murderous pair known as the "Lonely Hearts Killers" who lured their victims through personal ads in newspapers.

Decent true crime period piece. Ya got to dig that sort of thing if you're gonna get anything out of this movie. And I never complain when I get a chance to see selma Hayek strutting about.
USELESS FACTS:
The director's grandfather was Elmer C. Robinson, the cop who investigated the Lonely Hearts murders.
The real Martha Beck was of a very different stature to that of actress Salma Hayek and at the time of her death weighed well over 200lbs. On her execution day it was discovered that she would not fit into the electric chair so was seated on the arm rests when the fatal shock was administered.Shocking True Story. - 1writer
Excellent movie...too bad the disturbing story line is based on a true series of murders that were called by the same name. The actors are magnificent and believable in their roles. John Travolta and James Gandolfini are the tough, but caring detectives on the case. Jared Leto plays the greasy, opportunistic gigolo (Ray Fernandez) who is always setting up lonely women to take their money, until Selma Hayek, as Martha Beck, comes into his life. Initially she is a potential victim but instead turns it around to join forces with Fernandez to start their deranged murdering spree.WHERE WAS THIS MOVIE HIDING? - Ricardo
I don't recall seeing any big hoopla about this movie so it either flew under the radar or I wasn't paying much attention. I like John Travolta, and his performance here does not disappoint. Gandolfini will always be a good supporting character, that's a given. Selma Hayak and Jared Letto truly surprised me, turning in performances that blew me away. Interesting story, good setting enough that you believe the time period, no wasted dialogue, and superb acting.
I definitely recommend this movie!
