Interesting Topic, Poor Documentary - AceHigh
Being a Hip-Hop / Rap fan for almost 20 years, the title of this DVD intrigued me.
The topic of the material: a dedicated Police force exclusively constructed to monitor Rap musicians, was very interesting. Also the actual Rappers that appear in the movie are all reputable Musicians of the Genre, which makes the presentation more enjoyable and more credible.
However, there is not much depth to the actual content presented. Basically they show the same information to every rapper for their feedback and response to the issue. Then it seems like they ask EVERY cast member the exact same questions, and the cast members almost all give similar answers.
If you are a die hard Rap / Hip-Hop fan, this will interest you enough to watch it once (it's only 45 mins long). However, by the end of the documentary you may be unsatisfied with the lack of content. An Indepth look at the HipHop Cop Task Force - CandidCanuck
This Doc was WAY better than the other one featuring Derrick Parker. For one, this doc examined indepth the extent of the hip hop cop and it looked at the sociological aspects of its creation( ie racial, bigotry etc)
A Must see for those you have pre conceived notions about hiphop and for those who want to use this as thesis material.. Seriously!
