Wow- Creature was pretty terrible LOL I was at least expecting some campy fun but it wasn't even that. It's veeeeery slow and for all the cost of that extra time, they really should have improved the CGI, which was Sci-Fi Channel production calibre- i.e. high-school computer lab quality LOL Seriously, don't bother. Read the book- doubtless it's a thousand times better...Shallow Waters - Craigo
Lots of tampering was done with Benchley's enjoyable novel about a WW11 experiment gone awry (namely that they switched wars and now it's a Vietnam war experiment gone awry). TV-friendly sub-plots are added, and there's enough mindless padding to fill more hours than need be. Might be better if it was cut to a tight 90 minutes like they did with Benchley's squid opus, Beast. And it's suprisingly nasty for a TV effort (all of which augments the cutesy moments that make up some of the padding that resembles Hallmark Channel programing). Nice creature design, though.Long or so it seems - Chucky
Let me twell you that this would have been a great movie if it was no more than 90 minutes long. The creature was novel for a change, nobody has gone there when it comes to mixing mammel & fish/reptile DNA since Relic. A great white with arms, legs, claws and human intelligence. Now theres a creature! Craig T Nelson is ok in his roll, much like in poltergeist he's more in a supporting role, his leading lady, well its about time! She's an attractive divorcee/mom and looks the roll having just enough thickness in the hip to look the part but she is a beautiful and vibrant leading lady nonetheless. My only beef is that they'ver included a lot of pointless pseudo scientific BS and macho millitary junk that just doesn't belong. We all get that it was a Navy exparement gone wrong within the first 5 minutes. The creature got loose from the Navy research lab and and killed everyone. I think its worth a look I give it a 4 because of the imagination behind the critter
