Pretty brutal - rnhaas

This isn't scary - and I'm not sure its really supposed to be - but the problem is that it isn't funny either. I laughed maybe twice. The political commentary is obvious and heavy handed and not in any way insightful. The best part about it is the spot-the-famous-people aspect, and that's not all that much fun either (thanks to the internet). This is a mess of a movie but it makes sense since I certainly never thought David Arquette had directing in him.

absolute garbage...no value in this film at all. It's not scary, no suspense, horrible FX and the acting is sub par. Stay away and dont waste your time. I havent seen any of the final destination movies but must assume they are better than this.. I can say that Wrong Turn is a far more compelling movie to watch that is in the same genre. The only part I really enjoyed was watching a young blond who is also currently acting in a sitcom (Gary Unmarried)who is the obvious lead actress in this. Although her acting is sub par she is clearly the best part of the entire movie. I especially enjoyed her little hammerfest at the end taking out the bad guy. But like all these stupid slasher movies...watching the guy get up after is beyond ridiculous and i was hoping this one was going to be different but obviously that's asking to much.

A fair debut from Arquette. - OrionJeriko

The story revolves around a group of neo-hippies who are running off to Northern California to attend an annual love/rock festival, much to the dismay of the local yokels, who are interspersed throughout the picture as a collective sub-antagonist; outside of the primary antagonist who is Ronald Regan with an axe...well, some yokel with a Ronnie mask glued to his face that is. Would-be Ronnie runs amok murdering with ease while the neo-hippies remain unaware of the fact thanks to the inducement of various psychedelics. The suggestion here is all too clear: Remain oblivious to your surroundings while our gracious leaders destroy the world before our eyes as we wallow in complacence and self-indulgence.

The political message is all too strong though overall I found. For instance ‘Regan’ has a pig named George W. And anyone who speaks highly on Bushie Boy himself is an inbred, toothless, slobbering imbecile. A tad too overt and regardless of my own personal political persuasions I prefer subtlety all the same.

This directorial debut from David Arquette is commendable despite the obvious low-budget (for instance, this “big rock fest.” is laughable. The stage appears to be a mere 5"X10" with a cheap curtain behind it). The pacing is consistent, the gore is aplenty, the titties (and penises for that matter–-remember it is situated in a love-festival) are in abundance and it is much deeper than most conventional slasher films. Arquette’s heart is in the right place, he just needs to exercise subtlety in the future.

Also, there are some good tunes on the soundtrack. Reagan Youth (Ha!), which is a decent early punk band, have a track and The Melvins as well.
