Kickin' It Old Skool
Breakdancing isn't dead. It's been in a coma.
In 1986, a freak break dancing accident put Justin Schumacher in a coma. Now, 20 years later, he (Jamie Kennedy) is waking up to a new world and discovering that the more things change, the more he's stayed the same. With the girl of his dreams (Maria Menounos) engaged to marry his grade-school nemesis (Michael Rosenbaum), and his parents drowning in the debt of his medical costs, Justin must rally his former squad, bust a move, and win back the girl of his dreams.

It was what you would expect for this type of show. Some cheap laughs, a few funny situations, a stupid premise, and a plot that that seemed more focused on the 8 year old than the adult. Given all that, the only thing that really bothered me was the fact the leading lady would be more attracted to a mentally deficient 30 year old man than the guy she was engaged to (even though he was a jerk).Mediocre. - Jeefster
Cool premise and it could have been so much more given the comic capabilities, but it just sort of fell flat. It reminded me of movies from the eighties like Revenge Of The Nerds and about a dozen other school oriented comedies that all had about the rip-roaring success that this one had.
I can't really give a lot of write-up about this one as there just isn't that much there to write on. Not a lot of plot= not a lot of credibility= not a lot of sales/viewers.
Don't waste your time with this, it'll be on TV late nights for years to come and that means it'll be free. Which means you'll have another slot open at Zip for better fare than this.Disapointing - 213468280576
I was looking for a good dose of 80's culture but there wasn't much of that in the movie. The actors were unfunny and unsympathetic and the dance sequences were cut way too tight and choppy for the dancing to be appreciated, maybe the dancers just couldn't support routines that would suffer the scrutiny of a medium shot or any shot of a second or two duration.
The female love interest was very nice to look at but she was as unattractive and unsympathetic as any of the other characters in the film. The lead did a poor job of playing someone with the mind of a child, resorting to a squeaky voice though his emotional expression was not too bad. There was a nice loving relationship between the childhood friends but the actors playing the roles were just not very funny or charismatic.
I guess this would pass as a light romantic comedy for the audience that appreciates Tom Green. Seemed like a half dozen skits from a third rate show like "MAD TV" to me. Waste of time. I am an easy customer when it comes to dumb movies but this was not worth the zip for me.
