Done The Impossible: The Fans' Tale of Firefly & Serenity
Firefly and Serenity have grown beyond the genius of Joss Whedon. The words Firefly and Browncoat have come to symbolize a sense of community, family, and believing that the impossible can be accomplished. These concepts are at the very heart of Firefly and of its fans. Adam Baldwin hosts the telling of this vivid Browncoat story that features interviews with Joss Whedon, creator of Firefly and Serenity, the cast, crew, and most important, the fans themselves. The story chronicles the rise, fall, and rebirth of the cult TV show "Firefly" as told from the perspective of the fans who helped save it. Fans of the TV show and movie share what inspired them to become passionate about Firefly, to help save Firefly, attend shindigs, participate in message boards, donate to charities, and become Serenity extras. They talk about the many ways that Firefly has affected their lives. The cast and crew also share humorous and insightful experiences.

Being a Browncoat myself, but never being able to find this DVD was frustrating. Even through Zip, it took two months at the top of my list to get it. I can see why it is popular, though. It was very well done and really had a lot of good insight into behind the scenes goings on that I always wondered about. It goes into some detail about how Firefly was cancelled and more importantly why and then has proof that the show was unjustly given a raw deal from the start because certain execs didn't like it, the episodes were shown out of order, it was often pre-empted for movies and Baseball Playoffs, etc. I like how they show the Neilson ratings that each episode got on its original air date and how after only three episodes aired, the show had already made a profit. TV shows get cancelled all the time, even good ones with big stars in them, but this cancelled show was different. This is the story of how the fans of a cancelled show rose up to fight against the powers that be who tell people what to watch and what they can no longer watch and beat them at their own game. We won a decisive victory against the beancounters and proved that we were many and that we were strong. Serenity the movie is the result of our hard work and perseverance and this documentary shows how we all did our parts in getting the word about Firefly out there.Tear - Cutieakc
This was great to watch especially as a browncoat myself. It's awesome to see just how much not only the fans love the show but the cast and crew. Rubs the victory of "The Big Damn Movie" in Fox's face. Nice to see cast interviews but no Summer Glau which was odd. Lots of humour and reminising.Big Damn Heroes! - ajkenyon
This was wonderful! I wasn't expecting much when I rented it, thinking that it would just be a low-budget fan documentary, but it was actually really well done. Lots of great information, many interviews with Joss Whedon and the cast and crew of Firefly, and a wonderful feeling of camaraderie between the Browncoats. It's a great tribute to a great TV show.
