The story is a day in the life of two hit men, one trying to save the life of the other. The style of this movie is a lot like Snatch, or Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, except it's set in Chicago rather than London.
It has it's nice quirks like some claymation cut scenes of when one hitman was a kid, and other good placement of odd scene setting pieces.
It was a mixed bag basically because the acting of one of the hitmen (Michael Rappaport) just didn't work for me. Every scene with this character was hard work. I think I know what the writer was aiming at, but the actor consistently missed nailing it. The writing was good, it's just I never had any sympathy for the character throughout the whole movie. I know he's supposed to be a thick-as-a-brick sociopath, but I never got a reason why anyone should care for him. And that's a problem, because the whole movie is about trying to save this guy's life. The other hitman, and main character thank goodness (Gary Stretch) was absolutely great: definitely some fresh angles on the often filmed hitman character. And there's lots of other good interesting supporting characters too. So 75% watchable and 25% cringable, there's your bag.
