Superman: Doomsday
DC Universe Animated Original Movie
Utilizing the vast history and tradition of DC Comic's classic comic book stories along with a more provocative and action-packed story line for avid comic fans as well as kids and their parents, Superman: Doomsday features the voices of Adam Baldwin (Independence Day) as Superman, Anne Heche (Men in Trees) as Lois Lane and James Marsters (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) as Lex Luthor.
Produced by Bruce Timm (Justice League Unlimited, Batman: The Animated Series) and written by Duane Capizzi (The Batman, The Batman vs. Dracula), Superman: Doomsday is inspired by the best-selling graphic novel of all time, DC Comics' The Death of Superman. When the intergalactic serial killer Doomsday is unearthed, Superman meets the creature head on in the battle to end all battles. Going punch for punch, Superman finally ends the threat of Doomsday as he throws one last punch and collapses forever - making the ultimate sacrifice to save Metropolis and all those he once loved.

For a film that is labelled Doomsday, it actually doesn't have much to do with Doomsday himself. Aside from that, this is a bit more adult then the animated series which it is not related to but just so you know if you want to get it for kids. It's something to watch but not a must-see.Unfaithful - HaroonA
Superman: Doomsday shares nothing with the comic book upon which it was supposedly based, not even the name. The Death and Return of Superman is a brilliant story which chronicles the events in the aftermath of Superman's death.
This movie however completely glosses over this story in a ridiculously short sighted manner. Superman: Doomsday pretty much recreates its own and much weaker version of events after the demise of Superman. Aside from the story, try not turn towards the action in the film as its form of salvation. It's weak and bloodless, not even on par with Justice League: The New Frontier.
To conclude, if you have read the book then you will hate this movie.HoHumDay - dmarks36
Not the 'event' of the 90s and the death/replacement/resurrection of Superman. I knew that going in. What you have here is two different stories vying for attention - a mature take on Superman (having sex with Lois!) - meets a Saturday morning plot right out of the Superfriends. Blood and 'gee-whiz' mixed together and it never quite works. Add in the most unusual visual depiction of Supes (what are those lines on his face), an absent DC universe and the results are middling to poor. There is hope, however, I understand from the Justice League New Frontier. DC needs to choose, mature or kids alone.
