You Kill Me
"Hi, my name is Frank. I'm an alcoholic. I kill people for a living... This is anonymous, right?"
A street-smart mob comedy about a hitman (Kingsley) with a drinking problem that gets in the way of his killing. When mismatched people find a common calling the most unlikely relationships are formed and explored through dead-on performances by Kingsley, Wilson and Leoni.

Never heard of this one until I saw it recently in a critic's listings of good movies (3.5 stars out of 5). Just proves critics are just another person's opinion. This is a slow moving film, lots of dialogue, little action and even less believability. The premise was promising but I did not feel it lived up to its potential. Kingsley is good as the alcoholic hitman, but the supporting cast all seemed a bit off. I agree with another review that says the connection between Kingsley's character and Leoni's just does not seem anywhere near realistic. I like quirky, but his misses the mark. Its Incongruities Made Me Laugh - c4th
Christopher Marcus and Stephen McFeely employ a unique style in their writing of You Kill Me to create situational comedy filled with slightly dark, dry and quirky wit. It may take you a while to warm up to this movie, but give it a chance and you may gradually start to appreciate its brand of humour.
This is pure situational comedy. Take the cleverly written dialogue out of context and its humour is completely lost. It is the incongruities set up by Marcus, McFeely, and director John Dahl that provide the laughs. Frank attends AA to eliminate negative and addictive behaviour because his work is suffering. And what is his job? Why killing people of course. Frank is a hit man. In discussing his career, he points out he is never bothered by killing people but it bothers him deeply when he kills them badly. The relationship that develops between Frank (Ben Kingsley) and Laurel (Téa Leoni) provides more opportunity for some mildly absurd interpersonal exchange.
You Kill Me won’t work for everyone. Action is sparse and its humour is subtle and fairly dry. If you like films with an offbeat style give it a try.Good Flick for Light Entertainment - Mookie
This was a movie that was fun with a great acting turn by Ben Kingsley but the lightness of the story means I can't strongly recommend it.
The idea is interesting enough...hitman needs to go to AA. Ben goes, has some good and bad moments on his road to recovery and meets a girl who loves him warts and all. Some problems are the fact he is not established as a hitman before we see him screw up. And, in fact, we really don't see his "skill" ever in the movie. The Professional (Leon) worked so well because they do a great job establishing that this guy is a pro before showing the other aspect of his life. With this movie we only get to see the other aspect (until the end..barely).
The other problem I had was Tea and Luke Wilson are too ready to accept the fact this guy is a hitman without being worried about it. In fact, Luke plays a pretty boring role that never developed a personality or had a scene.
So the plot is a little too thin to hold water, but it was enjoyable because of the charisma of Ben and the premise was interesting.
