The Brave One
How many wrongs to make it right?
"Why don’t they stop me?" Erica Bain wonders. Bain, a popular N.Y. radio host, watched her fiancé die and nearly lost her own life to a vicious, random attack. Now she discovers a stranger within herself, an armed wanderer in the urban night, out for vengeance and at war with her own soul. Two-time Academy Award winner Jodie Foster, as Erica, joins Oscar nominee Terrence Howard, as a determined cop hot on her trail. Erica’s future is uncertain, but one thing is not: The Brave One is a high-tension thriller that packs a visceral and emotional punch.

I am a huge Jodie Foster fan, but was really impressed with her in this film, watching her change almost phsically into a person she doesn't even know. Part of me doesn't like the vigilante but another understands it and cheers it on. The stupidity and sheer violence of the crimes against innocent people are very well portrayed in this moving and thought provoking filmEntertaining Premise - phorseuM
I found this movie to be entertaining. However, it had several weaknesses, one of which I would like to mention. Terrence Howard and Jodie Foster had excellent chemistry. This would be great except for the fact that I found the Foster-Howard relationship to be more believable and heart-felt than the one that supposedly existed between Foster and her ill-fated fiancé. Another thing that I disliked about the film is how is established Foster's love for her fiancé through lurid love scenes without establishing any connection beyond the physical. That is to say, the movie established that the couple had great sex, but it didn't establish the passionate, "deep" love that, in my view, would provoke one to vigilantism. I could be nit-picking, because there are some things I really liked about this movie, for one, the mood was consistent and the acting good. I would recommend this title for those looking for an entertaining feature, but don't expect anything that thrilling or original.A Revenge flick worth seeing - Freespace
Jodie Foster is an actress you can count on to deliver a good solid performance. And in this film, she does not disappoint.
As in all such flicks, you have that unrealistic overnight transformation of a common ordinary person into a deadly lethal killer who seems to polish off her victims with ease.
If you can forgive this film for this one transgression, the film does focus very much on the struggle our main protagonist is having with losing herself entirely in this vigilante persona. And because of Fosters strong performance, it is a film worth seeing.
