Eye of the Dolphin
She found her voice in the ocean... and within herself.
After the death of her mother, Fourteen year old Alyssa (Schroeder) is forced to move to the Bahamas to live with Hawk (Dunbar), dedicated dolphin researcher and the father she never knew she had. Alyssa's arrival on the island comes at a decisively inconvenient time for Hawk, who is busy fighting greedy politicians and experts who are determined to turn his research center into a tacky tourist attraction.
Alyssa soon adjusts to island life and discovers the gift she shares with her father for communicating with dolphins, a skill which leads her into a powerful relationship with a wild dolphin. But when her father's research station is on the verge of being closed down, it is up to Alyssa and her dolphin friend to save her father's business.

...Or a good family movie with proper direction and a better set of actors. I can't believe I watched this movie twice. I totally forgot I viewed it a few years ago and fell asleep. If it wasn't for the dolphins, and the natural scenery in the Bahamas, I wouldn't have wasted another bowls of chips. I read somewhere that they are making a sequel?? If you love dolphins and/or the tropics, then you might consider this movie, but don't expect good acting, only bad or misdirected.Teriffically terrible acting - B00B00
This movie is all about animals in the Bahamas. Sadly, that is as deep as it gets. The best acting offered was the all-star antics of a skittering crab and a dancing dolphin. If you look at the storyline, it appears to have the premise of promise in it - a family-friendly movie. If you're desperately looking for exactly that, then you've found it. What it also does deliver, however, is bad filmography and worse acting. The movie felt so strongly as if it were filmed from a camcorder, I thought I could pick one up and start my own dolphin movie. Furthermore, the acting was almost unbearable. The leading actor, Carly Schroeder, was so bored, she didn't even have to act. The 'father' seemed so strained in both acting and persona, I feared he would pop a blood vessel. It was honestly the grandmother's wrinkly whininess that became the last straw that broke this dolphin's back. This story has potential, but sadly it's all washed up. Perhaps they should hire the dolphins. Or that crab.
