Alexander: Revisted - The Final Cut
This edition has the movie spanning two discs, but will be shipped together and treated as only one title on your ZipList.
Oliver Stone's 2007 Unrated Cut: Content Advisory for Violence and Explicit Sexual Situations
Like its title character, this reinvention by Oliver Stone of his epic story is bold and unprecedented, now recalling in its sweep such movie greats as Lawrence of Arabia and Patton. The filmmaker of JFK and World Trade Center incorporates over 30 minutes never shown anywhere and reshapes his saga of the world's greatest warrior (Colin Farrell) into a richer, more satisfying and audacious portrait from curious boyhood to mature conqueror. Added scenes of thunderous action and evocative sexuality enrich the performances of its stellar cast (Angelina Jolie, Val Kilmer, Jared Leto, Rosario Dawson, Anthony Hopkins). Discover more secrets of a historic legend - and more greatness from one of cinema's bravest directors.

Oliver Stone lost his focus on this one. It is a monstrous behemoth lumbering from one scene to the next. I'm grateful that Rogers shipped to DVDs for the price of one but what should have happened is that the two DVDs should have been edited down to one! read the IMDB reviews for more detail.Colin Farell is so bad in it... - scihum
I usually don't care that much about actor. Unless they are VERY bad, and I mean much more worse than Keenu Reaves, it does not mater much as I will enjoy a good script. Colin Farell really kill the movie, play so much badly that every scene with him is scraped. Otherwise everybody else play well, especially Jolie, Hopkins and Kilmer. Some scene are spectacular, especially battles and conspirations scenes. But about half of the movie is consacred about a gay love story between Alexander and his slave. This is not interesting at all because his slave is not even important in this history. I expected this movie to be about a heroic story, like 300, Troy or Jason and Argonault, not Broken Back Mountain. Still worth watching because of some of the best battle scenes ever, but expect to be bored most of the time.An Unspectacular Spectacule - ngc628
I wanted to like this movie; I want to like all movies about the Classical period. I want to be swept back in time and immerse myself in this fascinating epoch. This movie does do a creditable job of recreating the era. The costuming and the sets in Alexandria, Babylon, Greece and in India are magnificent. Overall I recommend this movie for its impressive depicting this era. The commentary by Robin Lane Fox, although fawning, is also worthwhile.
The major problem I had with this movie was Colin Farrell’s portrayal of Alexander. The combination of the bottle blond hairdos, the consistent kohl eye makeup, the fawning glances at his lovers, and the delivery of his ‘we are the world’ rhetoric undermined his portrayal of one of history’s most charismatic leaders. To be fair to Mr. Farrell, the distracting hair and the make-up were production decisions. The result was that it became impossible to engage myself on an emotional level with the events of this film while his hair constantly reminded me of Tom Hulce’s wigged Mozart.
Still, it is a fabulous failure, gorgeous, and worth a rent. If you are an Oliver Stone aficionado there is plenty of fan boy fare to be had in the supplementary material.
