Oliver Stone's 2007 Unrated Cut: Content Advisory for Violence and Explicit Sexual Situations
Like its title character, this reinvention by Oliver Stone of his epic story is bold and unprecedented, now recalling in its sweep such movie greats as Lawrence of Arabia and Patton. The filmmaker of JFK and World Trade Center incorporates over 30 minutes never shown anywhere and reshapes his saga of the world's greatest warrior (Colin Farrell) into a richer, more satisfying and audacious portrait from curious boyhood to mature conqueror. Added scenes of thunderous action and evocative sexuality enrich the performances of its stellar cast (Angelina Jolie, Val Kilmer, Jared Leto, Rosario Dawson, Anthony Hopkins). Discover more secrets of a historic legend - and more greatness from one of cinema's bravest directors.

Nothing much to recommend here. Some nice photography, some nice looking sets and good looking women and men. As a movie it's a joke. I personally found the homosexual themes offensive, though that's just my own bias. The fact that the actors had all sorts of accents (mostly English/Irish or whatever) confused me.. was this supposed to be some sort of parody of Shakespeare? I admit I didn't watch the entire film, I only watch films that I find entertaining... and this wasn't one of them.Colin Farell is so bad in it... - scihum
I usually don't care that much about actor. Unless they are VERY bad, and I mean much more worse than Keenu Reaves, it does not mater much as I will enjoy a good script. Colin Farell really kill the movie, play so much badly that every scene with him is scraped. Otherwise everybody else play well, especially Jolie, Hopkins and Kilmer. Some scene are spectacular, especially battles and conspirations scenes. But about half of the movie is consacred about a gay love story between Alexander and his slave. This is not interesting at all because his slave is not even important in this history. I expected this movie to be about a heroic story, like 300, Troy or Jason and Argonault, not Broken Back Mountain. Still worth watching because of some of the best battle scenes ever, but expect to be bored most of the time. The version we should have seen in theatres! - BobbyPeru
I remember way back in 2004 seeing Oliver Stone's film "Alexander". And although I enjoyed the original Theatrical Cut,I left the theatre feeling unsatisfied. There was something not quite right about the way the story was structured. A few months passed, and the DVD release of "Alexander" offered us a second interpretation of the film known as "The Director's Cut". Having seen the original, I decided to rent the new version. I was hoping Stone had made changes to the film that would improve it. I was wrong. The "Director's Cut" is little more then a shorten version of the original. Finally, I decided to pick up "Alexander Revisited". Third times the charm, right? A boy was I glad I did. This is the film we should have seen in 2004. It is here that Stone reveals to use a fully developed Alexander, a heroic character with deep emotional scars. By rearranging the entire film structure, Stone reinvents his original film, and brings to life the man and his world. To anyone who saw the original and walked away feeling there was something lacking, see this version...it is the film fully realized.
