The Cast Of The Year In The Picture Of The Year!
The president of Tredway Corp. has unexpectedly dies. Long live the new president. But who will the exec be? There's no official line of succession... and so the shady deals and insider back-stabbing begin.
Boardroom and boudoir politics play out in this star-packed tale of corporate machinations directed by versatile Robert Wise (The Sound of Music, The Set-Up). A bottom-line opportunist (Fredric March) and an idealistic manufacturing VP (William Holden) emerge as leading candidates for the top post. But while power-suited men maneuver, a woman (Barbara Stanwyck) may have the most clout. She's the founder's daughter and the company's major stockholder... and may be the velvet power behind the Tredway throne.

Corporate problems have been around for ages - Cine
In today's world of high tech and mega corporations it is often easy to forget that the stress and high expectations of working in big business have been around for at least 50 to a 100 years. In fact if you really want to stretch it historically...the Dutch were dealing with the pressures of performance and high profit going back to at least the establishment of New Amsterdam some 350 odd years ago...now known as New York City. Anyway, this is a time capsule of sorts. See how and why Corporations are the way they are today....this film examines the cut throat world and how morals take a back seat to profit. It has only gotten worse, but in a softer kinder 1950's the seeds were already there.
