Nice Play - crazyboutmovies
I am sure that Michael Caine and Jude Law had fun with each other during the making of this film. There are not many movies where both main characters have very few redeeming features!
Although the screenplay is very clever, and the directing very accomplished, I really felt that I was watching a stage play more than a film. Perhaps this was exactly what the director had in mind?Loved it - Elliott1
Michael Caine at his best, Jude Law performing with brilliant intensity, and both working out of a screenplay by the renowned if excessively mannered Harold Pinter. I had feared the film's Zip.ca three-star rating might condemn us to a dull night, but we were continuously engaged by it.COMEDY OR THRILLER? - Ricardo
It's very interesting that this movie is actually classified as a comedy but the original one from 1972 is classified as a thriller. Is there something the reviewers know that we don't? As for the acting part, what can be said, the old guard and the new guard both doing a great job. The adaptation is not the best, and unfortunately, that's what sinks the movie. What works so well in a theatre was not properly captured on the screen in this version, and it makes it bland, and at the end, falls flat.
If you have nothing better to do, then by all means, watch it.
