Talk to Me
Inspired by a True Story

Talk To Me is the true story of radio personality Ralph Waldo "Petey" Greene Jr (Don Cheadle). As vibrant soul music and exploding social consciousness combine to unique and powerful effect during the mid to late 1960s, Washington D.C. is the place for Petey to fully express himself and "tell it like it is." With the support of his irrepressible and tempestuous girlfriend Vernell Watson (Taraji P. Henson), the newly minted ex-con talks his way into an on-air radio gig. From his first wild morning on the air, Petey relies on straight-laced program director Dewey Hughes (Chiwetel Ejiofor) to run interference at WOL-AM. Combining biting humour with social commentary, Petey becomes an iconic radio personality while openly courting controversy for station owner E.G. Sonderling (Martin Sheen). As Petey’s voice, humour and spirit surge across the airwaves with the vitality of an era, listeners tune in to hear not only incredible music, but also a man speaking directly to them about race and power in America as few had before.

Starts off well... - eoguy
I wish that this film could have found a better way to tell its story. Talk to Me is the biopic of a talk radio host who rockets to fame in the 60s... and its the story of his manager/producer. The movie, like all biopics, is hindered by trying to fit an entire ...
