Talk to Me
Inspired by a True Story
Talk To Me is the true story of radio personality Ralph Waldo "Petey" Greene Jr (Don Cheadle). As vibrant soul music and exploding social consciousness combine to unique and powerful effect during the mid to late 1960s, Washington D.C. is the place for Petey to fully express himself and "tell it like it is." With the support of his irrepressible and tempestuous girlfriend Vernell Watson (Taraji P. Henson), the newly minted ex-con talks his way into an on-air radio gig. From his first wild morning on the air, Petey relies on straight-laced program director Dewey Hughes (Chiwetel Ejiofor) to run interference at WOL-AM. Combining biting humour with social commentary, Petey becomes an iconic radio personality while openly courting controversy for station owner E.G. Sonderling (Martin Sheen). As Petey’s voice, humour and spirit surge across the airwaves with the vitality of an era, listeners tune in to hear not only incredible music, but also a man speaking directly to them about race and power in America as few had before.

Right off the bat, it is clear that a movie involving Don Cheadle will be good. This one is no exception to that rule.
This movie is based on the true story of radio personality Petey Greene and his collaborator Dewey Hugues. The story is well situated within it's historical context and delivered brilliantly by all actors involved.
All in all, worth a watch.instructive - JOE52
I never heard of petey green and dewey huges before this movie. I learned a lot about these people and about the historical contect of the time. The movie is very dynamic i usually dont say that but they could have done it a bit longer for more explanation. Suitable for all ages.Starts off well... - eoguy
I wish that this film could have found a better way to tell its story. Talk to Me is the biopic of a talk radio host who rockets to fame in the 60s... and its the story of his manager/producer. The movie, like all biopics, is hindered by trying to fit an entire person's life into two hours... this movie is even furthered hindered by trying to do two people instead of one. But because of some fine acting and the story taking place in one of the most interesting times in US history... this film works. Sort of. I really loved the first hour of the film... but then it sort of devolves. I wish there was more about Petey's rise to fame and why he was so influential... and then I wanted to know why all of a sudden he wasn't famous anymore. The acting is great with Cheadle turning in a fine performance... but the story doesn't really hold together. I would recommend this movie tepidly to fans of drama.
