An entertaining bit of Hollywood fluff with no big message or deep dark secrets. I’m not sure why it took 5 episodes to tell the story but it gave us a couple of evenings of entertainment.
Messing plays Molly, a Hollywood wife who gets dumped by her husband. We see how she deals with this and tries to get on with her life while dealing with a number of dysfunctional friends. Some existing and some she picks up along the way.Two too Many - amaryllis
This show is a huge disappointment. It’s described as 6 liberating TV-hours of funny, empowering entertainment. Sadly it comes across as a low budget movie of the week. The writing is amateurish, the plots inane, the characters too predictable and lacking depth. There were no funny lines, no endearing moments, no intriguing characters, and no suspenseful storylines. The only redeeming quality this selection had was it put me to sleep! You get two DVD’s for one selection, but believe me that’s two too many.I expected better... - Cricri7
I was expecting more from this mini-series. I rented the mini-series first, I won't be renting the regular series though, to see how it fared but I did not like it much. Debra Messing is excellent but I thought it parodied a bit too much other narrated series like Sex and the city but not as good as the original. It is intended to be a comedy with a bit of sarcastic twist but it does not have enough of each. It is not funny nor ironic enough. It should have went a bit further. I usually love Judy Davis but I thought her neurotic character was an attempt at making her play what she does best but the writers failed to give her good material. Therefore, I won't be renting the regular series. I heard it got cancelled and I can see why.
