Fred Claus
Christmas comes every year, but this holiday season Santa's brother is coming along for the ride.
Fred Claus (Vince Vaughn) has lived almost his entire life in his little brother’s very large shadow. Fred tried, but he could never live up to the example set by the younger Nicholas (Paul Giamatti), who was just a perfect... well... Saint. True to form, Nicholas grew up to be the model of giving, while Fred became the polar opposite: a repo man who then steals what he repossesses. Now Fred’s dirty dealings have landed him in jail. Over Mrs. Claus’s objections, Nicholas agrees to bail his big brother out on one condition: that he come to the North Pole and work off his debt making toys. The trouble is that Fred isn’t exactly elf material and, with Christmas fast approaching, this one bad seed could jeopardize the jolliest holiday of the year. Has Fred finally pushed his little brother to the brink? This time, what Fred may have stolen is Christmas itself, and it is going to take more than Rudolph to set things right.

It's a Christmas show! - CanAmerican
Christmas movies are like Christmas trees: pretty much the same thing just dressed up a little differently. Once in a while you get that really unique one but it's not too often. "Fred Claus" is not that tree. It's fun and (for Vince Vaughn or Giamatti fans) a good show. But it's a Christmas show; complete with a scrooge sub-plots and "boy wins girl over" feel good schlock.
Like horror movies, I don't expect much from seasonal films. Just go with it and have a little fun. If you want to be an art critic rent some pretentious indie film with subtitles and actors nobody even cares about.never been a fan of Vince Vaughn- this movie validated that nothings changed. - movie_goer
It's clear Fred Claus will never be nominated for best picture at the oscars... unless they had a catergory for actors that can't act?
Truthfully there are 2 reasons i rented this movie: 1. Paul Giamatti and 2. the idea that santa has a brother intrigued me. I was surprised that Vaughn kept the story PG13 and the dialogue was somewhat funny. Enough so i look forward to the up coming holiday's to see it on cable TV. Fred Claus isn't painful or bad- it's actually entertaining!Something For The Family - CruelIn10tions
This movie is typical of any Christmas movie in that it sends a sort of message to people. Sometimes, I did wonder were some of the funny went because of the funny people that were in it. But even if it wasn't that great of writing, it was the overall effect that draws you in.
Christmas is a time of year were miracles happen, and that was what happened. It's just the feeling of a Christmas movie no matter if it was funny or serious that makes you think...wow, I want that feeling too.
Some of the things you could get rid of, but overall I say it's something that the whole family can sit down and say..let that be the holidays...
