Enchanted
The real world and the animated world collide.
Beautiful princess Giselle (Amy Adams) is banished by an evil queen (Susan Sarandon) from her magical, musical, animated land and finds herself in the gritty reality of the streets of modern day Manhattan.
Shocked by this strange new environment that doesn't operate on a "happily ever after" basis, Giselle is now adrift in a chaotic world badly in need of enchantment. But when Giselle begins to fall in love with a charmingly flawed divorce lawyer (Patrick Dempsey) who has come to her aid - even though she is already promised to a perfect fairy tale prince (James Marsden) back home - she has to wonder: can a storybook view of romance survive in the real world?

Disney pokes fun at its own cutesy reputation in this playful satire on the fairytale formula. The story concerns Giselle, a cartoon maiden in the animated land of Andalasia, who is about to marry Prince Edward, her one true love. Edward’s wicked stepmother meanwhile, the evil sorceress Queen Narissa, schemes to block the marriage in order to keep the throne for herself. To this end she banishes Giselle to the world of reality, namely New York City, where the winsome naïf must contend with muggers, freaks, and a cynical population that no longer believes in happily ever after. It isn’t long before Giselle becomes entangled in the lives of a skeptical divorcee, his 8-year old daughter and his jealous fiancée; but when Prince Edward and his little chipmunk sidekick come looking for her things go from simply confusing to complete pandemonium... Despite the sheer absurdity of the movie’s premise there is a seductive quality to the comical proceedings that caught me off guard and had me smiling like a kid. The musical numbers are bright and lively, the allusions to Snow White and Cinderella are cleverly done, and the CGI effects are amazing....rats and cockroaches have never looked so darn cute! And yes, there is a very happy ending for all. "Enchanted" doesn’t try to be anything than what it is, a light and fluffy little treat. It succeeds admirably.Another Surprise! - LadyBugAbode
Again, I was totally surprised by this film. I'm not a fan of Patrick Dempsey (too arrogant), even though I love Grey's Anatomy, so I had no intentions of every seeing this film. A friend felt the same way, but someone who has the same taste in movies told her to watch it, so we reluctantly watched it together, completely ready to shut it off the moment it got stupid.
Needless to say it wasn't what either of us expected, and while Patrick Dempsey was not brilliant, he didn't ruin the film.
Amy Adams was great in this movie. She was so believable as this naive princess from a far off land. Her voice and giggle was very "Disney-esque". At first I thought she was going to be supremely annoying, but once you get through the first bit, you realize she's playing the part perfectly. Susan Sarandon did very well as usual, she plays a great villain. There are some very clever lines in this film, which make it all the more enjoyable.
Well worth watching, and owning, actually. It's one the kids will watch over and over, but won't annoy the adults!great fun! - samiam1
Very entertaining. I enjoyed all the poking fun at the cliched fairy tale and the modern spin this movie takes on those cliches. Fun for the whole family, not just something for the whole family that only the kids will enjoy, but parents too. Amy Adams is pretty great, as always. I would have liked to see more scenes with Prince Edward, as his character was pretty f'n funny.
