My daughter (13 years old) chose to Zip this... She loves going to the bonus features on Pixar films and watching the short films. These little movie things are so short, but yet so cute. I think they are a one-time watch though, you could get tired of them. Overall, I enjoyed it, and smiled all the way through it.great fun - BigTea
This DVD is a lot of fun. Short film is a medium that is underrepresented in our culture, and I am always pleased to see them.
The folks at Disney-Pixar have put together an assortment of short films which show the evolution of CGI short films from its experimental stage, to a very fun, creative and colourful way to tell a story.
This is well worth the rental, especially if you have kids who enjoy CGI films.Good overview of Pixar - footnote
I have never been a big fan of CGI, so I was pleasantly surprised by this history of Pixar shorts. It was interesting to watch the experimental shorts; the bonus features nicely explain how each film helped to develop the technology to the point where Pixar was ready to tackle a feature film. I was glad to see the emphasis on character development, humor and plot, rather than just the technology itself. Luxo Jr, where Pixar got its adjustable lamp icon from, was the highlight for me.
