2 Days In Paris
A Comedy About Love, Family and Other Disasters
Adam Goldberg delivers "an uproarious study in transatlantic culture panic" (MTV) as Jack, an anxious, hypochondriac-prone New Yorker vacationing throughout Europe with his breezy, free-spirited Parisian girlfriend, Marion (Delpy). But when they make a two-day stop in Marion's hometown, the couple's romantic trip takes a turn as Jack is exposed to Marion's sexually perverse and emotionally unstable family, her coarse temperament with cab drivers and her ex-lovers... her many ex-lovers. Culture-shocked and ego-bruised, Jack finds himself hoping that their relationship can survive as their love is revealed in surprising ways.

the movie didn't feel deliberate or too rehearsed.the script has many funny and witty parts. it is not too rushed or forced. the female actress is so talented, she is interesting to watch and isn't in perfect makeup all the time.i think it would make a good date movie.Refreshingly funny - JonnyBoy
I wasn't sure what to expect after all the last Julie Delpy movie I saw was Killing Zoe (which was good I might add).
Well this tale of odd love between these two people was very funny. Goldberg does a great job as the paranoid neurotic boyfriend jealous at just about everything. Julie plays the fun loving Parisian and does just about everything that would make a guy jealous.
Very funny and light hearted...a great choice for one of those nights you are not sure what to watch. One dead Shark * - luminol
The vacation in Venice was supposed to bring their relationship to the next level. Didn't happen. Not to worry--2 days in the city of love will be sufficient to fill their lives with enough romance and "joie de vivre" to last them a lifetime.
Anyone who has even a passing knowledge of film should enjoy this. The screenplay is an absolute gem. MARIONs-nous? = Let's get married? The idea that Jack wants to experience the "Small world paradox" but when it happens to his girlfriend, it's not quite the magical uplifting experience he imagined.
Adam Goldberg is a hoot here. As the typical American who doesn't understand a lick of French, he spends the entire film at her side like some simpleton; while she bickers, fights or flirts with the people they meet. The film's about his paranoia and his creeping awareness that he doesn't know this woman at all.
Lots of references to other films. Loved the little gags, like Paris is a terrorist free zone or that Marion (Julie Delpy) is one smooth cookie when it comes to break-ups and remains cozy with all her ex-lovers. Or that she takes nude photographs of her lovers with balloons and being unihibited, shows them to her family. Which totally freaks Jack out that her Mom and Dad have seen him naked. Ms. Delpy's fingerprints are all over the film--she's doing that whole hyphenate thing: writer-director-editor-composer-etc, etc.
* The fish in the title of my review, refers to something Alvy Singer said to Annie Hall: "A relationship, I think, is like a shark, you know? It has to constantly move forward or it dies".
P.S. I've recently rewatched this and I've changed my mind. It's messy, but it is a great love story. I think they stay together. Their actual life in New York is totally different from the one here. And just because it's not mentioned nearly enough, isn't Julie Delpy a wonderfully gifted, intelligent and sexy actress?
