Blonde Ambition
Small-town girl. Big-time dreams.
The City That Never Sleeps is about to meet the girl that doesn’t quit. Jessica Simpson stars as Katie Gregerstich, a small-town Oklahoma beauty who’s come to New York to visit her long-time boyfriend. But after finding him in the arms of another woman, Katie decides to lose her cheating man and to find herself. With the help of two scheming co-workers she lands a job a top construction firm where she meets and falls for a great guy (Luke Wilson) with an even greater secret. Now, nothing is going to stop this go-getter from getting exactly what her heart desires in the romantic comedy proves you can’t keep a bright, beautiful down-home girl down.

Why do you even need to read a review for this movie to know that it should be avoided? Did you not notice that it stars Jessica Simpson? I watched it because I have lame friends who have a penchant for lame movies. I’ve got three words for you “Dukes of Hazzard”It actually wasn't terrible (!) - cathyottawa
Now that I've seen it, I'm surprised they didn't have more confidence in it, and give it a theatrical release (this went straight to DVD).
I'm no fan of Jessica Simpson the actress (as my review of Employee of the Month will attest). But she's surprisingly effective here, probably because she's pretty much playing a version of herself.
She channels her inner Marilyn Monroe here, to give us the virginal sex kitten, the adorable klutz, the sweet and innocent yet buxom and hot girl. It's the same girl she played? Was? on her reality show, Newlyweds. The same girl America fell in love with.
The movie itself is of coarse extremely predictable and formulaic. But people that love romantic comedies will probably enjoy this.blonde ambition needed some direction - buldog22
so here is a cute movie that could have done very well at the box office if they gave Jessica Simpson some credit. the story was weak, but Jessica has charisma that could make carry the movie. but teenage kids like the movie and it was ok for a movie that you did not need to think. ok for family nothing out of ordinary when it comes to plot or acting. this is an after school special movie, but with some strong direction and some better formula it could have been very good. but ok for kids or kids under the age of 14
