Every Woman Will Have Her Day
In 1939, Miss Guinevere Pettigrew (Frances McDormand), a middle-aged London governess, finds herself unfairly dismissed from her job. An attempt to gain new employment catapults her into the glamorous world and dizzying social whirl of an American actress and singer, Delysia Lafosse (Amy Adams).
Within minutes, Miss Pettigrew finds herself swept into a heady high-society milieu - and, by the end of the day, discovers her own romantic destiny.

I really enjoyed this movie! Happy ending and a great beginning and middle as well. I thought the casting was terrific... each person a
perfect stereotype of their character. It had the "old movie" kind of feel to it. The references to the upcoming war placed it in a time frame.a fun period piece - tylerwharper
MISS PETTIGREW LIVES FOR A DAY is a lot of fun! The music, the clothes and the lifestyle of the socially elite in the 1930s is fun to watch. Amy Adams did a great job as Delysia LaFosse, a proverbial rich-and-dumb starlet who can't decide whom to love. Amy Adams is a great actress, and while Delysia LaFosse may lack depth, Amy Adams definitely stretched herself to capture the essence of the socialite.
Frances McDormand is wonderful as Miss Pettigrew, and one can't help but cheer as she transforms outwardly and reflects her inner beauty.
We really enjoyed this film. It's lighthearted, funny and poignant. And the soundtrack is GREAT!Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day - mapderf
This is one of my most favorite films! It is so zany a mixture of diverse worlds... I can hardly believe the cattiness of the social swirl can be so nicely offset by the simplicity of our heroine, Miss Pettigrew (Frances McDormand). Amy Adams does a fascinating portrayal of a charming bit of fluff (Delysia LaFosse) caught up in this bizarre world - only to be coached by our heroine into finding true love in a real world. Not to be missed!
