Doomsday
Mankind has an expiration date.
In the action-packed new thriller Doomsday, authorities brutally quarantine a country as it succumbs to fear and chaos when a virus strikes. The literal walling-off works for three decades - until the dreaded Reaper virus violently resurfaces in a major city.
An elite group of specialists, captained by Eden Sinclair (Rhona Mitra), is urgently dispatched into the still-quarantined country to retrieve a cure by any means necessary. Shut off from the rest of the world, the unit must battle through a landscape that has become a waking nightmare.

I had to rate DD three stars even though I hate this genre.
It's because they did it so well with relentless gore, non-stop action, fake B-movie set reuse, some big names, and alternate universe styling. I was proud of the live shoots and lack of overwhelming CG. Although I might have been watching one touch up after another and not realized it; a few shots were positively CG comical, but in hindsight I believe that was the goal.
I was comparing each scene I watched to a shopping list of copied movies, but it was so obvious I checked the "making of" extras afterwards and the director joked about exactly the same shopping list I had created! Bravo! Author! If you liked Mad Max, Evil Dead, Resident Evil, Warriors, and Escape from New York, stewed in every apocalyptic landscape ever imagined, you'll probably love this.
The gore had me glued to the seat right from the gate, literally, a gate, like your passage into the land of gore, or Eden Sinclair (Rhona Mitra) passing into the hell of her childhood with parents left to die in a viral cesspool. How that started in Glasgow was a great inside joke for the UK, like when Gwen Cooper, from Torchwood, crosses the bridge from Wales and touché's about how she kept up her shots.
Having got past my zombie-analogue dislike enough for three stars, I have to say there's a lot to hate, except I was having too much fun to care with non-stop death threats and high production values. Unfortunately, there are a couple of slow scenes solely to show off the beauty of the wilderness, but that's where you go for popcorn. Try not to wait for the pithy one-liners, the redeeming pauses, or the merciful breaks, because they're not there; just more spitting and outrageous deaths await. They even left some room at the finish for "Revenge of the Doom" or "Son of Doom" or what have you, but it seems like a sequel doesn't really deserve a shot unless they find a way to be even more outrageous.better than expected - FieroGT
This is a decent apoocoliptic type film done kind of in the Mad Max style but with a deadly virus thrown into the mix. The action sequences are very well done and I was surprised that the movie was as good as it was. The actors are pretty much all unknowns but work well together. If you like this type of movie you will enjoy this oneWhat a Blast! - ivarknut
This movie is just F-U-N with a side order of D-U-M-B.
A virus has taken out Scotland and is now threatening England. A team of elite soldiers is sent into Scotland to find the cure for the virus. What follows is a combination of Mad Max and Braveheart. Action scenes are fun and there's a lot of gratuitous violence and splatter.
Don't take it too seriously and you'll have a good time!
