Better Than it Should Have Been - detersti
Given the premise of the movie, this should have been bad. And at times it was, but there were enough other moments in the movie that it was saved from being terrible to just being OK. There were moments that would have made the movie terrible on their own, but they were offset by good moments. Hank Azaria was good overall, but the script at times made him look silly and brought the overall movie down. The assistant coaches were the characters that carried the movie and brought much of the comic relief.Good underdog movie - RomComFan
While the beautiful Thandie Newton was a bit of a stretch for Simon Pegg you can't help but cheer for him in his little short shorts. Better than Shaun of the Dead, but not as funny as Hot Fuzz, a solid comedy from Simon Pegg.
Loved Hank Azaria in this, and the entire supporting cast is quirky and fun. If you like British Comedy than this is a must.Worth Seeing! - daveandginny
I was expecting another Simon Pegg satirical instalment, and was glad to note that this movie is unique in its own right. Pegg's character Dennis Doyle is indeed a bit quirky (there's a scene where he throws sticks at joggers from the safety of the boughs of a tree), but the movie as a whole is a heartwarming romantic comedy that further enhanced by Hank Azaria, who always brings something special to the set.
Definitely worth checking out!
